At Lazin Salaš there is bećarac with turkey and bećarac with smoked pork loin, both with mashed potatoes. One version puts turkey first, while the other includes smoked meat. The vegetables and the mash tie the meal together, but the choice of meat changes its character.
If you usually go only for grilled meat, bećarac can be a chance to try a different balance of meat and vegetables. There is no need to order several unfamiliar dishes at once. One new dish is enough to broaden your choice, especially when you pair it with flavours you already like.
For a full lunch, look at the current menu and decide whether you want soup first and dessert afterwards. You will find the wider context in our guide to Vojvodina cuisine. If you are planning a family get-together in the centre, see our Sunday lunch suggestions too: at the same table, bećarac can be one guest’s choice while the others choose according to their own appetite.
