About Us
Good food and stories that stay with you
We opened Lazin Salaš on 14 April 2011, wanting to make a place in the centre of Novi Sad for home cooking, long conversations and a little more sitting once lunch is over. The same idea has guided us ever since: to keep the flavours we grew up with and to welcome our guests as they deserve.
The house at Laze Telečkog 5 had stories of its own before we came. The famous Novi Sad merchant family Milutinović lived in it, and later the premises passed to the Serbian National Theatre. In the middle of the last century Ivan Hajtl, one of the memorable actors of the Vojvodina stage, lived here too. Today we gather around the table in this house, with the smells from the kitchen and the hum of the guests.

Rustic details and Vojvodina architecture give the Salaš the warmth we remember from the homes of good hosts. In the kitchen we cook well-known dishes, but we also keep a place for the odd, half-forgotten recipe. Through them we tell of Vojvodina, Serbia and the people from whom we learned what it means to cook well and to host graciously.
